Choosing the Right Wig...
Lace front wigs, Human Hair Wigs or
Synthetic, monofilament base wigs, what to
choose?
The benefits of medical treatments that restore your health often come with the unwanted side effect of hair loss.
Getting fitted for your new hair early helps you maintain your self-image throughout your treatment and recovery time.
If you've never used a wig before, you may be wondering what your choices are. It's a good idea to call
ASAP for an
appointment in order to try on several
wigs an then make a purchase. Before you come by, here are some basic facts
about our wigs to get you started. Let start on the inside of the wig.
Types of Wig Bases
We specialize in human or synthetic hair wigs designed with a comfort cap. A comfort cap is made with no network
to cause scalp irritation or allow bald areas to be seen through the
wig hair. Strands of hair are hand-tied to
the base, allowing a natural part in the hair. We offer
monofilament base wigs which is a
closed cap of fine mesh material with
hand-tied strands along with lace
front wigs. The upper front section of the cap is coated with a thin layer of latex, creating
the appearance of a natural scalp. We are also proud to offer quality construction embracing the newest type of silk
mesh for a base that is smooth, clear, and wafer-thin. Unlike old-fashion caps that tend to be heavy and itchy these
wigs are weightless, breathable, and extraordinarily comfortable.

Kinds of Wig Hair and Wig Care
Wig hair is available in many colors, and can be cut and styled to suit you. Synthetic hair strands are created
from polymers, which can hold a style through wear and shampoo. It holds it style, even if you get sweaty or
someone splashes water on you. It won't fade, but it may melt if you wear it near a stove or oven. Human hair is
real human hair, donated or sold to wig makers.
Human Hair wigs can be colored, permed, cut, styled, and
blow-dried, will look and drape just like your own hair. These must be restyled after each shampoo.
Wig hair is graded by strength, elasticity, and porosity. The higher the hair quality, with proper care, the
longer you will be able to wear the wig. Wigs like your natural hair will need care and attention to keep them
looking good. Plan on shampooing, conditioning and drying your wig. Use the right products for wig maintenance.
Never use a curling iron on a synthetic wig. Synthetic hair WILL MELT or frizz. Wigs should be placed on a wig
stand or head overnight, invest in a plastic folding wig stand if you plan on traveling with a wig. You should
use a wig brush, not a hairbrush on a wig. Brush it out gently to avoid pulling out hairs. If you use barrettes
or clips on a synthetic wig, remove them overnight so crimps don't permanently bend the hair. It is a good idea
to have more than one wig so you can alternate wearing, you will get a lot more life out of your wig. The better
you take care of your wig, the longer it will keep you looking good!
Health Insurance and Your Wig
Most private health insurance policies will cover a percentage of a wig purchase
for cancer patients and other types of
illnesses. Before you purchase, call
your insurance company and ask about their requirements, what will they cover, and what terminology they need to
have on a prescription for a wig. The insurance company may also require that you purchase the wig first, send
in the receipt, and file a claim. Copy and save these items, your doctor's prescription, sales receipt for your
wig, completed insurance claim form and any correspondence you send to the insurance company, so if your claim
is delayed or goes missing, it is easy to resubmit your claim.
